By the Tree was founded in Weatherford, Texas in 1997 by Chuck Dennie and Bala Boyd.
As with most aspiring musical groups, By the Tree got their start playing a series of small venues — predominantly churches — throughout the southern and southwestern United States. Their near-constant touring cultivated a sizeable fan base.
In 1999 they released two independent, self-produced CDs, which they sold at their concerts. By 2001, these two CDs had sold a combined 30,000 units, which more than recouped their production costs, and additionally brought them to the attention of the Gospel music industry.
The band eventually signed with Fervent Records, part of the BMG music publishing company. Their first national U.S. commercial recording was Invade My Soul. The album charted in the Billboard Top 40 in the Contemporary Christian and Independent categories. The album eventually went on to win two Dove Awards: The album itself won Best Modern Rock/Alternative Album, and the album's title track won Best Recorded Song.
The band has gone through numerous lineup changes since signing with Fervent. [(Singer)]/[(guitarist)] Aaron Blanton joined the group prior to the recording of Invade My Soul, replacing Samuel McKern as the drummer. Chuck Dennie remained lead vocalist and guitarist until 2005. Bassist Ben Davis joined in 2002 for the recording of These Days. Original member Kevin Rhoads left the band shortly after the release of These Days and was replaced by Charlie Goddard, who left the band in 2003 to join Jeff Deyo's band.
By the Tree has released four albums under the Fervent label, and they remain one of the more popular acts in Contemporary Christian music.
Chuck Dennie now lives in Franklin, TN with his wife Joanne

Mandisa grew up in Citrus Heights, California (Sacramento County) and graduated from El Camino Fundamental High School. She then attended American River College in Sacramento where she studied Vocal Jazz. Then she was off to Fisk University in Tennessee and graduated with a bachelor's of music degree with a concentration in vocal performance. Mandisa currently resides in the suburban Nashville community of Antioch, Tennessee. When she auditioned for American Idol in Chicago, she asked the judges to call her "just Mandisa", and she has been billed as Mandisa (with no last name) on the show since the show's Hollywood round. Mandisa was a backup singer for famed Christian author and speaker Beth Moore. She has stated her musical influences run the gamut from Whitney Houston to Def Leppard.
Idol judge Simon Cowell made several comments about Mandisa's weight during her audition. When he first saw her, he quipped are we "going to have a bigger stage this year." Later, when Paula Abdul commented that Mandisa had a "Frenchie" growl to her voice, Cowell responded that a more apt comparison would be to France itself. These were among comments that drew the ire of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, and would be one of the reasons Mandisa would entitle her 2007 album "True Beauty".
When Mandisa presented herself to the judges prior to the final cut-down to the season's 24 semi-finalists, she told Cowell: "what I want to say to you is that, yes, you hurt me and I cried and it was painful, it really was. But I want you to know that I've forgiven you and that you don't need someone to apologize in order to forgive somebody. I figure that if Jesus could die so that all of my wrongs could be forgiven, I can certainly extend that same grace to you." Cowell told Mandisa that he was "humbled" and apologized to her immediately.
On the March 7, 2006 Idol show, she stated in her pre-performance video that she sucked her thumb until she was 24 years old. She performed a rendition of Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman" which drew praise from all three judges. She was among the 12 contestants chosen on March 9, 2006, as a finalist in Idol's fifth season.
Finals Stevie Wonder Week- Mandisa performed "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing". During this week Randy commented that her performance wasn't as great as her rendition of "I'm Every Woman", but he said she was the best so far. Paula said Mandisa can sing anything. Simon said she was the best so far.
1950's Week- Mandisa sang a 1954 classic "I Don't Hurt Anymore". Randy loved it and thought that she had set the mark. Paula commented that the performance was flawless and that Mandisa was a thoroughbred. Simon proclaimed that he loved it and that Mandisa made herself and the song very sexy.

As well is one of the members of Compassionart a charity founded by Martin Smith from Delirious.

Many Contemporary Christian music (CCM) artists such as Michael W. Smith, Rebecca St. James, David Crowder Band, and Tree63 have covered a number of Redman's songs. Some of his most popular songs include "Heart Of Worship", "Let Everything That Has Breath", "Once Again", "Undignified" and the 2005 Dove Award-winning "Blessed Be Your Name" (Worship Song of the Year). He regularly works alongside other Christian artists such as Phatfish and Chris Tomlin.
Matt started out leading worship at a young age at St Andrews, Chorleywood, moving to help start up Soul Survivor alongside Mike Pilavachi and was formerly the worship leader for Soul Survivor church in Watford, and led worship at the annual Soul Survivor youth conferences. According to founder Mike Pilavachi, the Soul Survivor festivals (which began in 1993) grew out of worship sessions with him and the then 15-year-old Redman.[1] After a sabbatical in America recording Where Angels Fear To Tread, Matt moved to Brighton to work with Terry Virgo at the Newfrontiers church CCK. He formed close friendships with the worship team there and regularly works alongside Phatfish at the annual Newday event organised by the stream, and others such as Soul Survivor. Moreover, Nathan Fellingham often plays drums for Matt Redman in a live setting. Redman also appeared at the Together On A Mission conference alongside the band helping to lead worship in 2007. He has authored and edited multiple books on Christian worship, including The Unquenchable Worshipper and the book Facedown which accompanied the album of the same name.
Matt Redman's last album to be released was Beautiful News in December 26, 2006. His most recent songwriting contribution to travel the worship scene is "God Of Our Yesterdays", which has just appeared on the annual Passion and Newfrontiers live albums. It is expected to feature more heavily on future worship releases.

MercyMe is a Grammy Award-nominated and Dove Award-winning American contemporary Christian band, originally formed in Greenville, Texas in 1994.
The result of a praise and worship band experience, MercyMe was formed in 1994 by Bart Millard, Jim Bryson, and Mike Scheuchzer. Millard and Bryson met while working on a missions project overseas. The two agreed to start a new band in Oklahoma City with Scheuchzer, whom Millard already knew. It didn't take long for the band to build a solid fan base and they soon found themselves opening up for bands such as Audio Adrenaline.
Following a move to Nashville, Tennessee and then back to Millard's hometown in Texas, the band added bassist Nathan Cochran and percussionist Robby Shaffer to the roster. The band signed with INO Records in 2001 and released their first album, Almost There, which propelled them into the mainstream spotlight with the smash hit "I Can Only Imagine"[1]. The album went on to sell more than 2 million records in only three years and earned the band an American Music Award nomination.
In 2002, the band released their popular second album, Spoken For, which produced two more Top 10 hits. The combined success of the band's first two albums garnered a nomination for the Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist at the American Music Awards.
In 2004, MercyMe released Undone which produced two Top 10 hits: "Here With Me" which also hit Billboard's Top 100 chart that same year, and "In the Blink of an Eye" which, as of the end of 2005, was at #5 on R&R's top Christian hits. This album also features the song "Homesick", which also received notice by Christian and mainstream stations. This song was written in dedication to loved ones that the band had lost that year.
In 2006, MercyMe released Coming Up To Breathe. While this album kept to the same style and appeal of its predecessors, Bart Millard wrote that the band was not seeking to meet its previous popularity, but rather a more personal album that was written for God. Despite this conviction, MercyMe's eleventh album has hit no. 13 on the Billboard charts and features the hits "So Long Self", "Coming Up To Breathe", and "Hold Fast".
On November 20, 2007, MercyMe released their newest studio project titled All That Is Within Me. In September 2007, MercyMe began The All That Is Within Me Tour, a tour that features Shane & Shane, Monk and Neagle, and Aaron Shust.
MercyMe headlined the 2008 WinterJam Tour from January through mid March. Other acts include NewSong, BarlowGirl and Skillet.
