So many people in and out of the New Age want to know the future. So it may come as suprise to some that Jesus was many things - including a prophet! On this episode of Scripture Sunday ex New Ager Barbara Wilder explores the 22nd Psalm, the nature of Jesus and the relevance of prophecy in our day and time. Who is the Holy Spirit? Why is working with the Holy Spirit such a good fit for ex New Agers? In this episode I take a look at the mystery of the Holy Spirit through a S.O.A.P. Note Bible Study on Romans 7:5-7. This verse can be found in the One Year Bible reading for July 22, 2018 and is written out below.
When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit. Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.” Romans 7:5-7 NLT
Today’s Scripture Sunday S.O.A.P. Note Bible study is on Romans 1:8-9 and what it taught me as well as an experience I had recently on Facebook with someone who is still very caught up in the New Age. This experience lead to prayer and a beautiful experience of the love and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ. That testimony is included in this episode as well.
God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by spreading the Good News about his Son. – Romans 1:9
